Spring usually marks the start of the ‘Spring cleaning’ season but is also a time when most of us are turning to DIY and home renovation after leaving our house to hibernate during the colder months. And after everything that’s happened this past year, it really does feel we’ve been hibernating.
While the bathroom may not be the room you spend the most time in, it’s an essential part of daily routines and a popular room to renovate. If you’re looking for ideas to renovate your bathroom, we’ll share some of our favourites in this short post.
Add a towel rail
Is there a better feeling than a warm fluffy towel after a shower or a bath? Make that dream a reality with a heated towel rail that will not only keep your bathroom warm in style but can also be used to warm up your towels when you need them.
Nowadays you can find a whole selection of different sizes so you will be able to find the right one, no matter how much space you have available. If you don’t have the necessary pipework, you can opt for an electric option – just make sure that it will not be in direct contact with water where it is placed.
There are also so many styles and finishes to choose from that you are bound to find something that will suit your preferences. Chrome heated towel rails will look good in any bathroom, but if you want something more unique, you could opt for black, anthracite or copper.
Upgrade your taps
The past year has seen us spend a lot more time washing our hands, which has also caused some of us to view our taps in a new light. Do you feel like your sink area could use a little refresh? Taps are pretty easy to change, and you can find some affordable ones. Yet, they make such a big impact that it’s worth looking into it if you’re interested in making small changes.
Maybe you want to switch your separate taps to a mixed tap or simply find a different style? Contemporary designs are a great option, but more traditional styles are also very popular. Again, a chrome finish is a timeless classic, but you can choose something that will stand out like gold or copper – both very popular.
Take inspiration from Italy
Getting a new shower installed can be a whole lot of hassle, but changing your showerhead can be a lot less disruptive (and more affordable). If you’ve always dreamt of walk-in showers but it’s just not practical for your space, you can still take inspiration from that.
Italian showers are traditionally borderless, so they are open in the bathroom – not always ideal, especially when you have a family! But a common feature is also often a fixed shower head at the top.
Changing to this top showerhead can make all the difference, and if you’re not ready to commit, you could opt for a system that includes both a fixed and a hand-held showerhead. Suppose you do want to upgrade your cubicle. In that case, you could opt for cubicles that have a glass wall but no door to limit the shower space while giving you that impression of space and protecting the rest of the room.
I hope that you feel inspired for your bathroom renovation and feel more ready to start the project! We have more articles on renovation to provide you with tips and useful advice, so make sure to check them out here.
